  • Endometriosis : Endometriosis is a female health disorder that occurs when cells from the lining of the womb (uterus) grow in other areas of the body. This can lead to pain, irregular bleeding, and problems getting pregnant (infertility).
The cause of endometriosis is unknown. One theory is that the endometrial cells shed when you get your period travel backwards through the fallopian tubes into the pelvis, where they implant and grow. This is called retrograde menstruation. This backward menstrual flow occurs in many women, but researchers think the immune system may be different in women with endometriosis.
Endometriosis is common. Sometimes, it may run in the family. Although endometriosis is typically diagnosed between ages 25 - 35, the condition probably begins about the time that regular menstruation begins.

  • Fibroids : Uterine fibroids are noncancerous (benign) tumors that develop in the womb (uterus), a female reproductive organ.
Uterine fibroids are common. As many as 1 in 5 women may have fibroids during their childbearing years (the time after starting menstruation for the first time and before menopause). Half of all women have fibroids by age 50.
The cause of uterine fibroids is unknown. However, their growth has been linked to the hormone estrogen. As long as a woman with fibroids is menstruating, a fibroid will probably continue to grow, usually slowly.

  • Polypectomy : Polypectomy is the medical term for removing polyps. Colonic polyps are abnormal like growths that protrude into the lining of the bowel. Small polyps can be removed by an instrument called a biopsy forceps, which snips off small pieces of tissue. Larger polyps are usually removed by putting a noose, or snare, around the polyp base and burning through the tissue with electric cautery.
Neither of these procedures is painful, and you will usually not be aware that they are being done. Rarely will a polyp be too large to remove by colonoscopy and require surgery for removal.
Polypectomy is very safe, but all procedures entail some risks, which you should discuss with your doctor. The most common complications of polypectomy include bleeding and perforation (creating a hole in the colon).
